Outdoor Adventure Club Internship program
LOOP NOLA’s Outdoor Adventure Club Internship Program is a fun way for teens to gain professional, technical, and leadership experience through local outdoor adventures.
The Outdoor Adventure Club (OAC) Internship Program is a semester-based program open to students from public high schools in the Greater New Orleans Area. The internship runs from September - December and February - May each year. Interns have the option of participating in just one semester or applying for multiple semesters. Application for the fall semester opens in June, and application for the spring semester opens in November.

Through the Outdoor Adventure Club Internship Program, young people develop career readiness skills through technical, social, and leadership based experiences. Upon completion of the program, interns will earn a LOOP NOLA Outdoor Adventure Club Internship Program certificate based on the skills that they acquire each semester. This certificate demonstrates to future employers and schools that the participant has acquired skills that make them a more effective leader, worker, learner, and team player.

Who can apply for the Outdoor Adventure Club Internship Program?
The Outdoor Adventure Club Internship Program is a grant-funded program offered to students from public high schools in the Greater New Orleans Area. Any public high school student between 14-20 years old from Orleans, Jefferson, St. Charles, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, or St. Tammany Parishes can apply.
How many interns do you hire each semester?
We accept 16 interns each semester, with priority going to previous interns applying for multiple semesters.
What are the internship dates each semester?
Internship commitments are semester based:
Fall semester: September - December
Spring semester: February - May

When do interns have to work?
Outdoor Adventure Club Internship Program semester events include:
Weekly after-school “Basecamp” meetings on Fridays from 4pm-6pm
Monthly “Weekend Adventures” to an off-site locations within 1-2 hours of New Orleans, usually on a Sunday
An overnight camping trip
Optional bonus adventures
What happens if an intern needs to miss a day of work?
To complete the internship, interns must attend at least 50% of the semester’s events.
If an intern plans o miss an event, they need to communicate the planned absence to staff members in a timely manner.
How do interns get to work?
LOOP NOLA is unable to provide transportation to our office. Interns will need to secure their own transportation to and from our office in City Park.
For Weekend Adventure events outside of the city, we will provide transportation from our office to the offsite location and back. Interns will need to secure their own transportation to and from our office in City Park.
Is this a paid internship?
Yes! Internship pay rates are based on the number and type of events attended. The more events our interns attend, the more they make. And the bigger the event, the more the pay. Interns must attend at least 50% of events to complete the internship and are encouraged to attend all events. Payment is issued upon completion of the internship.
What are the requirements to complete the internship?
The LOOP NOLA Outdoor Adventure Club Internship Program requires a semester-long commitment from all interns. Because all of our internship events are based in outdoor adventures, events can be physically and mentally challenging. They are designed to be fun and engaging, and they can require sustained physical activity. All interns should be prepared to spend time outdoors, being active in changing weather throughout the semester, with people from a variety of backgrounds.
If hired for an internship semester, interns will agree to:
Attend at least 50% of all Outdoor Adventure Club Internship Program events
Arrive on time and stay through the completion of the event
Show up to all events prepared and ready for the activity
Follow all safety instructions
Speak and act respectfully to all interns, staff, and visitors
Remain mentally present and work without a cell phone during all events
Work with a respectful attitude and try your best
Be curious, try new things, and encourage your peers
